For Students who plan to study abroad in Europe with the Erasmus+ funding
The mobility component of the Erasmus + program enables higher education students to study for part of their degree or to pursue a traineeship in a European or other associated country.
The program is designed to familiarize interns with the knowledge needed to perform a financial statement audit – 3 months of an in-depth comprehensive training to get familiar with the software and Statutory External Audit methodology.
After completing the internship program an intern will have the ability to work on an audit effectively and efficiently.
☑ Responsibilities:
The fundamental role of an auditor is to report to the shareholders as to whether the company’s annual accounts show a true and fair view of the company’s financial activity, as well as to ensure that the accounts are presented in conformity with the prevailing legal and regulatory requirements.
As an audit-trainee you’ll be working within an audit team, where you’ll assist in the audit of the annual account of several clients. This includes identifying the possible risk areas where material misstatement could possibly happen in the financial statements and fieldwork and substantive testing.
Knowledge and skills you will learn from doing our audit internship program:
- Learn how to evaluate risks.
- Learn how to develop an audit program and checklist.
- Learn how to review and test documentation as required.
- Lear how to analyse complex procedures, transactions and data.
- Learn how to prepare audit findings to assist in the preparation of draft financial statements.
- Learn how to fill out a Tax Return.

for from January – December 2025: winter (January – March/April), summer (June – July/August) or fall (September – November/December) audit internships are available

Three (3) months

this is a full time, in-person internship, 40 hours a week

no financial compensation but travel/accommodation allowances and subventions possible

☑ Your profile:
The candidate is studying towards a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting or related field in the European institution.
A desire to learn and grow in the field of Auditing & Tax.
Strong analytical/numerical ability.
Computer skills on MS Office, in particular Excel.
English: written and verbal communication skills in English – Independent User B2

Audit Internship Experience in Malta:
I was an intern in the Audit Department at Griffiths+ Associates for 2 months during summer 2016. It was a very good time because I could see how look work of auditors and what type of task they have during their daily work. I helped in planning and executing audit assignments and preparing income tax returns of companies, financial statements in accordance with International Standards on Auditing. During my second month I was also responsible for results of some common tasks, which I prepared with other intern. I think that it was a very intense time and very good experience, especially for people who want to start their career in the world of audit. It is also worth to mention that whole team was very helpful to interns and everyone could feel like member of team.
Especially our director Alex is an excellent example of good leadership and management skills and it was a pleasure to work with him. Internship in Griffiths+Associates was a time when I could improve my teamwork and languages abilities, analytical skills, attention to details and of course it was a time when I could work in multinational environment and get to know such a beautiful country as Malta. I think it has been a great adventure and I encourage other students to participate!

My name is Łukasz, I’m from Poland. I have always been intrested in history, economics and culture of other coutries. I have started studies in International Relations and then, on my masters degree I countiuned my economics passion – I started International Finances and Business. Erasmus program gave me opportunity to participate in internship at Griffiths + Associates Ltd in Malta.
Despite of that I have known only basics of auditing and accounting, I have learnt a lot in practice, and it helped me to make big step forward. Of course, internship offered me much more than work, I have been living for 3 months in completly different culture, I have visited breathtaking places and, what was important – everyone was speaking English – it was the best learning opportunity.
I would fully recomend this experience, and at Griffiths + Associates Ltd, you will be able to meet wonderfull people, learn in practice and visit sunny Malta.
